An excellent article. Get it and read for sure , I’d argue

And ponder…. we all know of the ages – farm to agrarian to industrial to information….but really “Data”.  They postulate that “data is to this century what oil was to the last: a driver of change and growth”, and then go into how it’s grown, what makes it, what it’s used for, or will be, with some interesting chart/lists. Plus a number of thoughts/perspectives on markets it’s created or disrupted…on its share-ability…on its portability..and who might get held accountably for what . Or not! With differences in Europe, American and China referenced……

Should be a carefully run full day workshop, superbly facilitated! And much more…… There must be more written & discussed, of course. I will look for that.

The low poster #, [15], indicates this is a long time Leadership Learning Forum Process basic topic! However its importance has increased substantially. It was just nice to be quick to assimilate information. Now its essential. For everyone. AND to be able to sort out, what you feel is irrelevant, just as fast. This poster covers c.45-60 minutes discussion in a leadership workshop. It’s amazing how many leaders don’t do the fundamentals well!! The first five bullet points are crucial. And it takes practice!!Luckily there are lots of materials today, every day, to practice on.

It does take intense concentration!!

Increasingly, perhaps reflecting generational shifts, this poster prompts an lively discussion these days. Older facilitators are more empathetic with its implied work ethic/habits. Younger leaders  often seem to have  been  pressured to seek  “short cuts” as the whole form of the art…not necessarily seeing “craft” focus/discipline as fundamental AND first. I certainly agree with Burgess’s view, but I know…admit!!…. to have been “short cut” oriented most of my life!!

Can one be both? What do you think??

Communicating – Four Dimensions

Communication is always crucial…especially for those of us who are reasonably good @ it….or just take it for granted as an everyday process we do well enough. This poster [#28] (Post 28. Four Dimensions in communication) has been a favorite of Leadership Learning Forum discussions for years. Understanding and improving your versatility in “length” [time used], or in level[ i.e., height/distance of perspective], or the various  media[s] used, or pondering the sequence of how you learned this art, is absolutely fundamental in every leadership opportunity to produce the most effective “Magic”.

Actually this  one page set of ideas/practices is enough for an intense 1/2 day workshop on the process!…..Often takes longer to master the four views !!

Thirteenth Year Counseling from the Cape

As I proceed into this 13th year from this office, with only mandatory travel, and extensive use of  myriad electronic connections, I find long established relationships overcome distance and time easily. Actually they make the process more effective, efficient and fulfilling for all parties so engaged, and surely for me. I am completely into the 7th phase of my working career, collaborating, integrating, and anticipating with select very strong  partnership  arrangements. I’m focusing on helping others, in their fullest selves, develop on-going leadership capacities, in their own staffs. This is much more “future” oriented, on top of my huge experience base. There’s a huge calling for this interaction! We all should have started years ago!…..But “doing the work” seemed to get in the way for some of us. Now, leadership must be “Bolted to the Work!”, both getting done well, simultaneously. Well,…actually leadership needs to lead even in this coupling. You’ll find tons of insights, born of experience, on this website, the “Magic” so to speak, especially in the protected areas which require my approval for access.

Building on 13 years here

Took a month off , using only my iPhone6  & iPad air, to stay connected, but not as intensely focused as usual. Interesting lessons for me!……and as signs of Spring occasionally show here on Cape Cod, I feel that traditional urge for new growth  & outreach… and critical review of lots of things I was doing, worrying about!! In a few days we will celebrate 13 full years in this wonderful location, and are looking forward to many more… even more happily and productively!!!

First Got Bigger!!

Forecast of 2-5 inches actually kept on to c. 14 inches. And cold, i.e., c. 15 degrees. Really like my life in the Chicago area. Serious mobility challenge for 30 to 48 hours. Now OK, but very different. Getting lots of house /desk work done. Hopeful of a return to normal soon. And to work out the future of my evolving website, which is essential!!

The recent election, before, during, and now afterwards, provoked these questions for many of us, suggesting the personal habit of reviewing that set, critically, periodically, is crucial….. A life long activity. Likely never finished, given the changes and challenges we all face  these days. Not only in this country but the world… So I have begun a complete examination for myself, considering first, what I believe my own principles of living are now, what they might, could become, before I judge what others believe theirs are. A daunting, challenging process. Likely will take awhile. especially interacting, in a  civil dialogue, with some of the vast number of people who were surprised/missed/ are upset or worried/can’t accept, what we have been witnessing for some time…so I can reshape my own habits of learning, questioning, absorbing…….and help others do the same, if they too, think it’s important for themselves!!

Learning to learn[ Poster 90A]

I accidentally deleted [ while working on improving the protected areas on the site] this fundamental list (post-90a-learning-to-lean) – a basic to the LLF Process- and was distraught….but luckily was able to access an old version of the Posters I sent to a client, and retrieve it!

So then I studied it….kind of like “finding the lost sheep”, and was astounded @ how relevant/provocative, actually fresh, it was. Thought I knew it all already, of course…..a deep lesson again!!

None of us is ever  finished learning. Click on it and ponder!?! then use the worksheet (post-90b-worksheet) to add some of your own tactics…likely a habit we should all focus on as we age!!!

Is the potential impact of advancing AI, on us in the near future, alike to recent hurricane warnings to people on Cape Cod?

It’s been over twenty years since one really landed here , so maybe it’s time…and other areas have been warned, well and then. hit hard. But  here it didn’t materialize much more than an impending storm. So worry/listen /prepare for nothing.??….. well…better than no notice and lots of damage/discomfort!! Likely coming AI, though hard to feel it now in our daily lives, must be prepared for, understood re, options, reach, and disruptions/and surely as the weather changes, AI will be increasingly a major  and visible/unexpected part of all our lives. Seek it out personally. It’s already here to stay.
